Nahr el Bared Reconstruction Job Vacancy: Urban Designer & Achitect

Nahr el Bared Reconstruction for Civil Action and Studies (NBRC) would like to recruit one Urban Designer and two Architects to work on the production of the masterplan in the adjacent area.
NBRC is located in Tripoli/Nahr el Bared.

NBRC is a local Nahr el bared grassroot initiative that worked on the production of the masterplan of the nahr el bared camp and is currently working on a masterplan for the Nahr el bared Camp adjacent Areas. It focuses on advocating for the reconstruction of the destroyed camp and preparation of various studies to facilitate that process.
It was initiated in late June 2007.


(NBRC) also works on producing knowledge, studies, plans and strategies for the reconstruction of Nahr el Bared camp in direct relation with the needs and way of life of its dwellers. The aim of the commission is to do the necessary studies to lobby for the interests of the community in the reconstruction process and ownerships rights. In addition ensure participatory mechanisms, hence NBRC is coordinating with PC, neighbourhood community, NGOs and UNRWA.
It involves grass-roots actors from Nahr el-Bared camp as well as professionals from different disciplines (urban planning, architecture, social sciences…) so that local knowledge and professional expertise are combined to further inform and impact the planning and reconstruction process. rban designer/Planner.
Leads the planning function for the preparation of a rezoning plan of Nahr El Bared camp adjacent areas (New Camp).
Manage preparation of feasibility studies, planning and preparation of preliminary concepts for the project.
Coordinates with relevant project staff to include qualitative and quantitative criteria, identified through research and data collection, in the planning and design phases of the project.
Maintains contact with the community leaders, local authorities, municipal representatives and other concerned bodies on the issue related to planning and design; plans and implements the participatory design process with the community along with the NBRC.
Produce design alternatives for the different elements of the project.
Work on the preparation of required presentation material and documents for the project.
Leading the participatory planning & design process with the community using different tools.
Supervises preliminary and detailed architectural drawings/3d presentation drawings of the project.
Minimum qualification:
A master degree in urban design and previous degree in architecture.
Minimum 4 years design experience in urban planning and urban design.
Experience in participatory design is an advantage.
Demonstrates good research and analysis skills.

Design Architect:
Work on the preliminary design & design development of Nahr-El bared reconstruction project.
Produce design alternatives for the different elements of the project.
Works on the preparation of required presentation material and documents for the project.
Assist the Lead Architect in managing & supervising the detailed design produced by the consultants.
Assists in implementing a participatory planning & design process with the community using different tools.
Assists in supervising the computer aided preparation of preliminary and detailed architectural drawings of the project.
Prepare 3_D presentation drawings for the project.

Minimum qualification:
A university degree in architecture.
Formal training in computer aided design.
Demonstrates good research skills.
Minimum 2-5 years design experience.
Experience in low cost housing and participatory design is an advantage.
